Meeting the diablo: Epilogue
It’s Sunday and it will be a rest day, not just because it’s Sunday but because we got it and so we deserve it. It took as 15 hours to get through the hell and overcome the “diablo”. The legs indeed stiff and hurting but the satisfaction of having made it softens it all. It’s a strong great feeling, we guess as big as yesterday’s sacrifice.
We have covered the 260 kilometres of that epic Tour de France stage won by the “Diablo” Claudio Chiappucci in 1992, got through Saisies, Comet de Roselend, the huge L’Iseran, Mont Cenis and Sestrieres. The picture shows the happiness of having make it up to the Iseran about half way to go. We were as happy as childs on a luna park!
